Bayaran is the second planet from an orange sun.
It was in the process of being Terraformed by the federation when the fall came and the fleet that devastated Suskillon also destroyed the terraforming machinery on Bayaran along with the main base, but left the world otherwise alone.
The lack of manufacturing, agriculture and more caused a crash, lot of infighting and such. But fairly recently the people here have managed to get back out to space.
A governing body consisting of a president, a forum of magistrates from the factions who interpret major legal decisions, and regional governors who meet on a yearly basis to discuss policy. The seat of this government is in the capital city of Brinnoa in Alappu Major region.
The remainder of Bayaran is divided into a few large towns, agrarian farming regions, mining facilities, and the like.
There are five larger towns:
- Brinnoa The planetary and system capital.
- Craterville largest manufacturing town, the main spaceport is located near it.
- Long reach a town located on the other side of the planet from the capital. Specializes in salvage and related industries.
- Heylaria The main holiday town and the center of the fishing industry.
- Arduvak a somewhat insular town on the other side
The “Uio detachment of the 599 545th marine regiment” or Mardets is a single military force with air, land, sea, and space divisions.
It gets it's name from the small federation marine detachment that was providing security for the planet when the destruction occurred.
When outside people mostly wear carbon-dioxide circulation respirator masks and almost all houses have reduced pressure.
I outside without a respirator, people can easily do light tasks and short walks though for people not used to it, it feels uncomfortable. The effect is like high mountaintops in standard atmospheres.
